Hello there.
Hi, I'm Tiffany. I'm a 40-something first-time mom writing from the other side of a seven-year infertility journey that included everything you’d expect and a whole lot more we didn’t - treatments, losses, surrogacy, hope, despair, and finally, a beautiful baby girl who's the best part of my day.
For years, I was the woman who cringed at the idea of being called "mom." I loved my career, my freedom, my identity as a whole person beyond any parental role. Then life had other plans, and suddenly that title I'd resisted became the one I'd fight hardest to earn.
This is where I write about what it's really like to become a mother at 43 - the surprising parts, the challenging parts, and everything I got wrong about what this experience would be like. I also write openly about infertility and surrogacy because for too long women have felt like we need to keep quiet about these experiences. We're told women are just supposed to want to and be able to have kids, but that's not reality for millions of us. It's time to stop being ashamed of what we go through.
If you're navigating motherhood later in life, struggling with infertility, considering surrogacy, or just curious about how it all actually plays out when you take the long road to get here, I'm glad you're here.
I live in the mid-atlantic with my husband and our daughter (and until recently, also our dog who reluctantly adjusted to not being an only child. We miss her desperately.)
